A pleasant scenic trip north by minibus along the Chiang Mai-Thaton route amidst lush tropical jungle beside a meandering river at an elephant training camp, watch elephants bath as well as a demonstration of how these trained magnificent beasts are used in the timber industry - pushing, pulling and rolling logs with their tusks, trunks and feet.
Then, its "ride `em cowboy" time; an hour's elephant ride over hills and into the forest. "Swing with the sway" is what it is all about.
After the exciting ride, have a picnic lunch under cool jungle shade beside the river.
Then take a "Huckleberry Finn" bamboo rafting trip for an hour on the Ping River.

1700THB | This program provides you with a unique opportunity to learn about elephants and how to control them. A Mahout Student certificate is presented to you at the end of your stay.
Day 1: Arrive at the Thai Elephant Conservation Center by 1.30p.m. Learn about their behaviour and the commands used by the mahouts to control them. With the assistance of skilled mahouts, ride them through the tropical forest and leave them there for the night. Trek back to the camp to relax. At sundown, learn to cook delicious local food by helping the staff prepare dinner.
Day 2: Arise at 6.00 a.m. and walk to the forest to retrieve your pet elephant back to camp. Watch them take their morning shower. After breakfast, learn to ride and control it. Visit the elephant hospital and meet baby. Babar. Enjoy a '/2 hour elephant ride after which lunch is served. Further training on how to control them. Ride them back to the camp with stops at the elephant cemetery and the mahout Training school. Help the staff cook dinner (if you wish to)
Day 3: At sunrise, hike into the forest to retrieve your pet elephant back to camp. Watch them take their morning shower. Breakfast is served. Then visit the elephant-dung paper factory and the exhibition hall where elephant skeleton are preserved. Finally join the elephant show to receive your Mahout Student certificate. Maximum 10 pax
