See a demonstration by these mighty animals pushing, pulling and rolling logs using their tusks, trunks and feet. A brief ride on one of these magnificent beasts will be an unforgettable experience. Then, amidst the peace and solitude of nature, glide along on a summer dream bamboo rafting trip on the cool river. Drive on to Thaton, a picturesque village right on the banks of the Mae-Kok River, close to the Burmese border. As you are now really in the local community, see local life as it is actually lived. Overnight at Thaton. |  | Day 2 (8.30 hrs): After breakfast, drive 15 kms. to get to the Long Neck hilltribe village (Padaung). See the many layers of brass rings worn around the women's necks, both for decoration as well as for belief. Then enjoy a boat trip on the Mae-Kok River, zipping along as the warm breeze zaps your face. It's exhilarating. Along the way, stop at a Lahu hilltribe village and a Karen hilltribe village. Notice their primitive cultures. Arrive to Chiang Rai. Overnight at hotel.
|  | Day 3 (08.30 hrs): Morning breakfast, Drive to Maesai, the northern most point in the country. This bustling town lies right on our border with Burma. Visit a jade - carving factory to see craftsmen at work. Then on to the world-renowned Golden Triangle where the borders of Thailand, Laos and Burma meet at the confluence of the mighty Mekhong River. Drive further on to the ancient town of Chiangsaen, which was the very first kingdom in Thailand, situated right on the banks of the Mekong River. It's then a pleasant drive back to Chiang Mai.
