A 30minute drive to the north of Chiang Mai to visit a local market for half an hour. After that, turn left and drive to The west for about 1'/2 hours to visit a Shan village. Stop for lunch. After lunch, continue on a rough road to get to the point where the trek starts. A 20 minute trek up-hill gets you to a Hmong (Meo) hilltribe village. Then it's a 2'/2 hours trek up and down hills through the jungle, passing rice fields, water buffaloes, cows and other wild animals, to finally arrive to a Karen hilltribe village. Rest and relax. It is then dinner time. Overnight at the village. | | Day 2 (09.00 hrs): Breakfast. Departure from the village. Trek for an hour to an elephant camp where it will be "ride `em cowboy" time. Enjoy an elephant ride for 1'/2 hours as you rumble and sway your way into lush, tropical jungle. Then trek up and down hills for another 1'/2 hours where salvation awaits you ...a cool, refreshing, blessed waterfall. Relax, swim and soak in the sights and sounds of nature, while your guide cooks lunch. After lunch it's a down-hill trek (thank heavens) following the stream for 1'/2 hours to arrive to the point where the truck is parked. Board the truck for the rafting camp. It's now a summer dream "Huckleberry Finn" bamboo rafting trip as you glide blissfully on the placid river for an hour while serene emptiness and solitude surrounds you. The truck will be awaiting your arrival at the end of this trip. Drive back to Chiang Mai to arrive at approximately 5.00 - 6.00 pm. | |
