Koh Tao still has a few secluded bays and beaches, but the main attraction is definitely under the water with snorkelling also a fabulous experience for those without a dive certificate.

Koh Tao is one of the those places where you have to expect the unexpected. Many people have reported absolutely world-class dives in the area over a period of a few days to a two months.
 Chumphon Pinnacle, probably the best pinnacle dive site in the gulf has been known to attract whale sharks, mantas, huge schools of Black fish, great barracudas, Queen Mackerels, bat fish, Swordfish, and even Fin back whales. Big 1-1,5 meter groupers can be seen there any time. Koh Tao offers the best diving in the Gulf of Thailand and combined with the pleasantries of shore life, it is well worth a visit. You may not see whale sharks or swordfish every dive, but you'll certainly be more than charmed by the local inhabitants of the reefs.
Many different styles of hard corals, soft and striped corals, turtles, blue spotted and yenkin rays, big puffer fish, slugs, prawns, shrimps, sea and feather stars as well as the many coloured coral fish fill every diver with enthusiasm.
Koh Tao has also some really interesting swim through's at Nang Yuang, Leam Thian and Hin Wong Bay as well as Green Rock.
These are suitable for beginner and advanced divers.
