Siam Thani restaurant

Dear Sirs
We inadvertently ended up at the Siam Thani restaurant at 14 Broughton Street Edinburgh having booked what we thought was still an Italian restaurant due to an obsolete web link.

With three fussy children and a mother who can no longer tolerate spicy food we made our apologies cancelled the table and attempted to find another Italian restaurant for a pre-theatre meal for 6 on a Saturday night and within a few hundred yards of the Playhouse Theatre showing "Mamma Mia". No chance, everything for several streets was full with a queue.

We returned to the Siam Thani and asked for their help. What a wonderful response we received! Nothing was too much trouble, the owner and his wife and their staff advised and suggested meals for those of our party who needed it. They offered dishes from the A La Carte menu at the special pre-theatre price and generally provided a level of consideration and service that I have rarely if ever experienced before and I have been dining out for 35 years! I can particularly recommend their Thai Green Chicken curry, wonderful!!

The food was superb, the wine was good and six two course meals plus three deserts, bottle of wine and various soft drinks all came to less than £90.00.

Needless to say we will return and I can certainly recommend this restaurant. If you have not tried Thai food before don't worry the lovely "clean" and delicate flavors make the average Chinese meal seem crass and synthetic although many of the ingredients are the same and I would be very surprised to find that there was any monosodium glutamate even on the premises so none of the raging thirst that is the usual result of eating Chinese!
